The Tribune Tower is yet another Downtown Chicago skyscraper with an imposing presence. This gothic-style building, whose design is modeled after the Button Tower of the Roeun Cathedral in France, houses 34 floors and rises 141 meters (462 feet). It is the home of the Chicago Tribune, a newspaper with a daily circulation of 680,000. First published on June 10, 1847 it has gone on to become one of the Midwest’s dominant voices. Originally a liberal newspaper, the now conservative daily is widely considered one of the best in the US. The building contains stones gathered by Chicago Tribune correspondents from locations that made the news over the years. These include fragments from the Berlin Wall, the Great Wall of China and even a moon rock!
