The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower constitutes yet another Manhattan architectural gem. The building is 213 meters (700 feet) tall. Its design is based on the campanile (clock and bell tower) at St. Mark’s Church in Venice. It was the world’s tallest building from 1909 to 1913.
